Optimize Stores for Omnichannel

Point of Sale

Manhattan Active Point of Sale equips retailers with multiple payment options to maximize cart conversion and improve customer convenience. With Manhattan Active Point of Sale, store associates can process traditional payments (cash, check, credit card, debit card, gift card, travelers check, store credit) and next-generation contactless payments methods, including NFC wallets or QR code wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal. Checkout can occur anywhere in the store, as Manhattan Active Point of Sale supports connecting store associate mobile devices to shared payment terminals throughout the store to authorize and complete customer payments.

Retailers can accept various currencies as cash payments and can print endorsed checks and other documents with multi-station printers via Tender franking. Furthermore, the exchange tender function allows approved users to accept one tender type and dispense another, enhancing flexibility for cashing gift cards or checks. Gift cards can be sold and reloaded with Manhattan Active Point of Sale.

Improving Convenience with Pay by Link

Manhattan Active Point of Sale natively supports Pay by Link, which allows for secure payment processing in situations where customers are on the phone or when a payment terminal is not accessible. Instead of verbally sharing their credit card information, a store associate can send customers an email link so that they can complete their transaction using their personal device. Once the transaction is completed, associates are promptly notified and can begin preparing the merchandise for pickup with a printed receipt for the customer.

In addition to the email option, store associates can also present a QR code to customers when a mobile payment terminal is unavailable in the store. By scanning the QR code, customers can initiate the same checkout process as they would through email. This feature provides a convenient and efficient alternative for payment, ensuring a seamless experience for both customers and store associates.

Taking Deposits for Large Purchases

During high-monetary value purchase transactions, customers may prefer to place a deposit to secure an item at a promotional price and make incremental payments. Manhattan Active Point of Sale enables retailers to provide this payment convenience, allowing store associates to accept deposits for a transaction and save them to a customer's profile. In the future, when the customer makes additional payments, store associates can access the customer's profile, retrieve the transaction, and either accept another deposit or collect the remaining balance to complete the transaction.

Providing Payment Processing Flexibility

Manhattan Active Point of Sale is ready for deployment with pre-built checkout flows and payment processing integration with industry payment leaders like Ayden and Cybersource. For example, it offers out-of-the-box support for the Ayden payment platform, including certified payment terminal hardware, the M400 for fixed checkout stations, and the e285 for mobile checkout.

Manhattan Active Point of Sale can support other payment terminal devices and flows through its common Terminal API. The integration accommodates payments made with credit and debit cards, NFC wallets, QR code wallets, and gift cards. To enable extensible in-person payments, retailers can create their own in-store payment process to complete payment, including payment flows, hardware integration, and receipt printing.
